Composed of the three valleys Valdidentro, Valdisotto and Valfurva, Bormio is situated in the National Park of Stelvio. It is a well known as a skiing resort during winters (alpine and cross-country skiing is even possible round year at the nearby Ortles-Cevedale glaciers) and as a relaxing mountain retreat during summers. Apart from fresh mountain air and spectacular nature, the town is also well known for its hot spring spa. Their history even reaches back to the Roman Empire 2000 years ago.
Due to its small size with a population of only 4,200 people, Bormio managed to preserve the small town charm. This is further enhanced by its unique medieval town center and historic relevance as a trading point on the route from Venice to Switzerland.
